The Oven is Not Operating

There are several solutions for this problem:

  • The oven may not be plugged in. Check to see if it is plugged in.
  • The power may not be flowing to the socket. Check if electricity is present at the outlet in question by using another small object that runs on electricity (e.g., hair dryer). If electricity is not present, consult an electrician.
  • The fuse may have blown or the circuit breaker may have tripped. Replace the fuse or reset the circuit breaker.

The Display/Controls Do Not Work

Be sure the control surface is clean and dry. Touch the center of the touch key using the flat part of your finger.

If only parts of the display / controls are not working, turn the oven off at the circuit breaker and wait five minutes. Turn the circuit breaker back on and the oven should reset itself and be operable. If this does not solve the problem, you will need to schedule a service visit.

If the whole display is not working, open the oven door and see if the oven lights are working.

  • If the lights are working, you will need to schedule a service visit.
  • If the lights are not working, turn the circuit breaker off, wait 5 minutes, and then turn it back on. If the display still does not work after turning the circuit breaker back on, you will need to schedule a service visit.

Preheating Takes Longer Than Expected

Please note, the length of the preheating time depends on the temperature setting. The higher the temperature, the longer the preheating time.

  • Keep your oven clean - After each use, wait for the oven to cool, and wipe up any food spills within the cavity or racks. If needed, run a self-cleaning cycle (if available). Refer to your owner's manual for specific instruction on running it. If you do not have an owner's manual, you can download it here.
  • Remove unneeded pans and racks - Before starting, remove extra pans and racks.
  • Keep the oven door closed - Only open the door once the oven has fully preheated. Opening the oven door frequently decreases the internal temperature and will lengthen the preheating process.

The Oven Temperature is Too Hot or Cold

If the oven is too hot or cold, the oven thermostat needs adjustment. Refer to your owner's manual to learn how to adjust the thermostat. If you do not have an owner's manual, you can download it here.

If you have a double oven and both are on but the second oven will not heat above 175°F, the amperage for the oven's circuit may not be correct. Check the data plate for the correct number of amps required and be sure the amps are the same on the house circuit. This can also be caused by a blockage in the vent opening. Please check the vent opening and remove anything that might be blocking it.

Baked Goods are Overdone or Underdone

If your baked goods come out consistently either too brown or light for your liking, try calibrating your oven. Calibrating allows you to fine-tune your cooking parameters to match your style and work with your recipes.

This function is available for select oven cooking modes. Refer to your owner's manual to see which cooking modes you can use this function for.

  • 1. Go to the settings menu on your oven display.
  • 2. Select TEMPERATURE OFFSET.
  • 3. You can offset your oven by plus or minus 35°F in increments of 5°F.
  • 4. After adjusting, save your settings. Your oven has been adjusted to fit your cooking preferences.

More Troubleshooting Topics

The oven does not start or it switches off shortly after starting.

The door did not close properly. Open and make sure to close the door properly. Check to see if any food remnants or foreign objects are jammed in the door. If there are, remove them.

The oven light is not working properly.

There are several solutions for this:

  • Replace or reinsert the light bulb if loose or defective. Use gloves or a small washcloth when handling the light bulb. Touching it with your fingers may deposit oils on it and cause it to burn out prematurely.
  • The bulb may have burned out. Purchase a replacement bulb. Refer to your owner's manual to see which type of bulbs your oven uses. If you do not have an owner's manual, you can download it here.
  • If the oven light is not turning off, make sure there is nothing blocking the oven door. Check if the hinge is bent.

The fan still runs when the oven is off.

The fan may run even after the oven is off. This is normal and it will switch off automatically once the oven has cooled down.

The oven door is not functioning normally.

If the oven door closes faster / slower than normal, this is normal. The soft-close door hinges contain a damping fluid that is affected by the temperature. If the oven is in a cold environment, the door will close slower than it will in a warmer environment. A warmer than normal environment, such as when cooking, may cause the door to close slightly faster.

If the oven door is locked and will not open even after cooling, turn the oven off at the circuit breaker and wait five minutes. Turn the breaker back on. The oven should reset itself and will be operable.

If the door lock is defective, check whether food remnants or foreign objects are jammed in the door and remove.

There is smoke during baking, grilling, or broiling.

When fatty foods are cooked in the oven (e.g., roasts), a certain amount of fat will be deposited onto the grill element. The next time the oven is turned on, this fat will burn off with an acrid smell. Leave the oven door closed during the oven warm-up process (5 to 10 minutes) and by that time most of the smoke should have dissipated. Make sure the oven is closed during baking, grilling, or broiling since this will reduce the amount of heat in the kitchen.

The food is browned unevenly or too dry.

The food is browned unevenly - To obtain even browning and better baking results, make sure the baking pan is in the middle of the rack and the oven door is completely closed. Uneven browning can also occur if the temperature is too high so lower if needed. Please refer to your owner's manual to learn more baking instructions. If you do not have an owner's manual, you can download it here.

The food is too dry - The cooking time was set too long. Set a shorter cooking time or select a lower temperature. To retain moisture in the food, cover the food or add more liquid.

The oven is new and there is a strong odor and smoke when it's turned on.

The smell is normal for new ovens and will disappear after several uses. You can also self-clean the oven to remove the smell more quickly.

The smoke is caused by factory oils. The oils will burn off. Rid oils faster by setting the oven on bake for 15 minutes or by wiping the oven with hot, soapy water before use.

There is a burnt grease smell coming from the oven.

This is caused by deposits left on the heating element. Continue baking until the deposits have completely burnt away.

The AUTO SHUT-OFF is on.

The AUTO SHUT-OFF was activated because the oven was used for a very long time without the settings changing. Press STOP and restart if required.
