Liberty® Induction Cooktops Usage & Appliance Features

Refer to your owner's manual to learn if your Induction Cooktop has these features as well as how to turn them on.

Extra-Large Flexible Cooking Zone

Each zone is made up of two zones that can be combined or used independently use the Join | Split function. The 30-inch Liberty® Induction Cooktop has two Extra-Large Flexible Cooking Zones and the 36-inch has three.

Here are some useful tips for this feature:

  • This zone allows you to cook with one pan at different temperatures. Simply place your pan on the Flexible Cooking Zone and split the two zones. You can now cook food on one side of the pan and keep them warm on another.
  • Combine the zones if you need to cook for a large number of guests. This will allow enough space for you to cook with your large cookware.
  • The 30-inch Liberty® Induction Cooktop has a FlexPlus® Zone which can be used as two independent cooking zones or as a single shared zone for the ultimate in flexibility for large or oblong cookware.

PowerBoost®

PowerBoost®: Enables you to quickly heat up large amounts of water or stock at a temperature higher than the highest power level of the cooktop. We recommend using this to heat up large amounts of soup or stock.

Here is a useful tip for this feature:

  • To protect the internal components of the cooktop, this feature will switch off automatically if the cooktop gets too hot. This is normal.

PanBoost®

PanBoost®: Enables you to quickly heat up pans at a temperature higher than the highest power level of the cooktop. We recommend using this feature for searing steaks or grilling fish and vegetables.

Here are some useful tips for this feature:

  • Do not preheat your cookware.
  • Use cookware with a fully flat base. Do not use cookware with a thin base.
  • Never leave empty cookware, oil, butter, or lard to heat up unattended.
  • Do not place a lid on the cookware. The lid will become too hot.

MoveMode®

MoveMode® lets you transfer the selected power level and the cooking time from one cooking position to another. We recommend using this if you are cooking with multiple pots and pans and need to move them around.

Here is a useful tip for this feature:

  • If you enable this feature, you can move your cookware between the different cooking zones and it will retain the same setting.
  • Be sure to select the new cooking zone to confirm the settings.

HeatShift®

The HeatShift® feature allows you to change the power level during cooking simply by moving the cookware backward or forward on the Induction Cooktop surface. Use when cooking foods that need quick temperature changes. Perfect for recipes that require moving from a sauté to a simmer like marinara sauces.

Here are some useful tips for this feature:

  • This feature only works within the flexible cooking zone of your cooktop.
  • To increase the power level, move the cookware towards you.
  • To decrease the power level, move the cookware away from you.

CookSmart®

The CookSmart® feature controls the temperature of the pan allowing your pan to not overheat. The cooking zone where CookSmart® is enabled for will only heat up if it is required to maintain the temperature. This saves energy and prevents oil or fat from overheating. CookSmart® will also let you know when you can add food to a heated pan.

Frying level Temperature Recommendations:

  • Level 1 Very low Preparing and reducing sauces, sweating vegetables and frying food in extra virgin olive oil, butter or margarine.
  • Level 2 Low Frying food using extra virgin olive oil, butter or margarine, e.g. omelettes, French toast, hash browns.
  • Level 3 Medium-low Frying fish, pancakes and thick food such as Hamburgers or pork chops.
  • Level 4 Medium-high Frying ground meat, vegetables or thin slices of meat, e.g. veal cutlet.
  • Level 5 High Frying food at high temperatures, e.g. steaks medium rare or fried cooked potatoes

Usage Tips:

  • Never leave a frying pan, with or without food, oil or fat unattended when it is being heated.
  • Do not place a lid on the pan. Otherwise, this feature will not activate properly. You can use a splash guard to prevent splashes of grease.
  • Use oil or grease that is suitable for deep fat frying. If butter, margarine, extra virgin olive oil, or lard is used, use power level 1 or 2.
  • If the temperature of the cooking zone is higher than that of the cookware or vice-versa, the frying sensor is not activated correctly.
