These crispy pastries are perfect as a holiday appetizer or brunch. The savory brie flavors pairs perfectly with the nutty crunch and buttery pastry.
Servings: 12 Pinwheel Puffs
Ingredients
Approx. 17 oz. frozen puff pastry dough (1 package), thawed to package instructions
1/4 cup cranberry sauce
3 oz. brie cheese, sliced very thin
1/2 cup chopped roasted nuts
1 egg, beaten
3 Tablespoons honey
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 400°F.
2. Unfold each pastry sheet and slice along the folds to create 3 long rectangle pieces.
3. Slightly roll out each sheet to smooth out the sides and edges.
4. Spread a light layer of cranberry sauce over the puff pastry.
5. Layer the thin slices of brie. Top with some nuts.
6. Roll each puff pastry rectangle lengthwise to have make long pastry rolls.
7. Slice lengthwise down the center of each pastry roll. This will create 2 thin strips out of each roll.
8. Making sure the cut side faces up, roll each strip into a pinwheel.
9. Pinch the ends of each pinwheel to help seal the pinwheel to help keep it from unrolling when baking. Repeat for all pastry and you will have 12 pinwheels.
10. Brush the pinwheels with beaten egg.
11. Bake for about 25-30 minutes or until the pastry is golden.
12. Allow to cool. Drizzle with honey and top with additional chopped nuts.
