Ensure proper care of your Thermador stove or range hood by following the recommendations below.

How to Clean Your Kitchen Hood’s Exterior

Non-Stainless Steel Surfaces – To effectively clean the outside of your stove or range hood, wipe the surface with warm, soapy water and a soft cloth. Dry with a soft cloth. Do NOT use abrasive cleaners and cloths.

Stainless Steel Surfaces – To care for your stainless steel stove or range hood, follow these steps:

1. Find the direction of the stainless steel grain, which can be vertical, horizontal, or diagonal. Always wash and dry with the grain to avoid scratches.
2. Wash your hood with mild, soapy water and a soft cloth. Dry thoroughly. Do NOT use abrasive cleaners, cloths, or cleaners with chlorine.
3. Condition your hood with a stainless steel conditioner in the direction of the grain.

How to Clean the Grease Filters in Your Kitchen Hood

We recommend cleaning the metal grease filters every 1 to 3 months, depending on usage, to maintain your hood’s efficiency. Washing your hood’s metal grease filters regularly helps maintain its cleanliness and safety. Follow the instructions below to learn how to clean the filters. The edges of the filters may be sharp so make sure to handle with care to avoid cuts.

1. Turn off the hood and make sure it has completely cooled before beginning.
2. Review your owner’s manual to learn how to remove the grease filters. For certain models, you will need to remove the grease trays before removing the filters.
3. Wash the filters with hot, soapy water. If needed, soak the filters to remove stubborn grease deposits. The filters can be washed in an empty dishwasher as well. Cleaning in the dishwasher may cause a slight discoloration. The grease trays can also be washed with hot, soapy water or in the dishwasher. Do NOT use abrasive cleaners and cloths to clean the filters or trays.
4. After washing, make sure to dry the filters thoroughly. Review your owner’s manual to learn how to reinstall the filters.

Ventilation Charcoal and Carbon FIlters

How Often Should I Replace Charcoal/Carbon Filters?

Hoods that use a recirculation kit to recirculate air in the kitchen (instead of venting air outside) use charcoal/carbon filters to neutralize odors during cooking. Contact Thermador Customer Support at 1-800-735-4328 to determine if your hood uses a recirculation kit. If so, we recommend changing the charcoal/carbon filter every 4 to 6 months, depending on usage.

Review your owner’s manual for information on which charcoal/carbon filter to purchase and how to replace them. Replacement charcoal/carbon filters can be purchased in the Thermador Accessories Store.
