On Sunday, one of the most special days of the year arrives – Mother’s Day! There’s no better way to celebrate than by gathering with those nearest and dearest and preparing family favorites that have been enjoyed from generation to generation. Here are some of my favorite recipes that stand the test of time and that Mom will love on her special day.

While there are a million ways to show Mom your love on Mother’s Day, cooking up a homemade meal is one of my favorites. And if your family is anything like mine, there are special dishes that bring back fond family memories. To kick off the day on a sweet note, I reach for a good old-fashioned Blueberry Pancake with Buttermilk Syrup recipe – a favorite that has been adored by my family with each passing generation. Equipped with all the typical trappings of a classic pancake breakfast – vanilla, sugar, and of course, fresh blueberries – this recipe not only tastes delicious, but evokes some of the sweetest childhood memories of Mom whipping up the most important meal of the day.

By adding in an assortment of fresh vegetables – from mushrooms, to onions, to heirloom tomatoes, to bell peppers – it makes for a perfectly satisfying meal! One of my mom’s traditional treats is a zesty lemon cake – the perfect companion to an afternoon cup of tea or enjoyed in the evening after the family festivities with a glass of wine. Soft and spongy with luscious lemon frosting, or even topped off with a rich blueberry glaze, this delicious dish is sure to add the wow factor to your Mother’s Day meal.
