Spring is in the air, and along with the lightheartedness of the season comes one of my favorite design trends: pastels! Challenging more conventional components of design, pastels are showing up everywhere from cabinetry, to backsplashes, to accents and beyond. With fresh shades of pink, green and aqua blue, these colors soften a kitchen aesthetic and are perfectly in-tune with the feel of the season. Here’s a look at some of my favorite ways to incorporate pastels into your kitchen designs this year.

Calming Cabinetry

Serene shades like baby blue, seafoam green, soft pink and lavender are quickly becoming a trending color palette in 2018. A great way to infuse a little fun into the kitchen, pastel-colored cabinets provide a great option for those who want to introduce some individuality into their designs – but without making the larger leap into dark and dramatic tones. For kitchens with soft wood finishes and sleek stainless steel Thermador appliances, pastels can really inject new energy into a space and create a real wow factor.

Bright Backsplashes

From tile, to stone, to mosaic and more, backsplashes are a wonderful way to incorporate this tranquil trend. Colored tile makes for a lively look, and can be mixed and matched or arranged in a uniform pattern. One of my favorite kitchen design styles is neutral cabinets, countertops and floors, and a bright backsplash to add a pop of color. With the complementary addition of Thermador appliances to frame the space, your kitchen is sure to exude a lavish look that stands out!

Tranquil-Toned Accent Pieces

Another one of my favorite ways to incorporate pastels into my kitchen is with pastel accents. If committing to cabinetry is too bold of an endeavor, a great way to integrate this style into your kitchen is by adding select pieces of furniture or accent items like rugs and window treatments. While the stylish décor can invigorate the space, it won’t completely take over the room. Try balancing out the pastel palette with oversized fixtures and bold Thermador appliances – you’ll have just the right amount of sweetness in your sumptuous space!
