Life can get messy, especially at home. With kids, pets, guests, and day-to-day living, you can end up with spills and messes in every room of your house! But the room that seems to get the most action when it comes to dirt and debris is the kitchen.
No matter how organized you are, or how careful you try to be, every kitchen can have crumbs, splashes, splatters, and untidy areas. So what’s a homeowner to do in the messiest room in the house?
My trick as a designer is to be sure that everything you put into the kitchen works for you, helping you contain the mess and making clean-up a breeze. Today’s appliances have built-in features that give you the ability to keep them clean and avoid those baked-on and caked-on crises from the past.
For example, Thermador ovens and stovetops were designed not only to perfectly cook your food, but to also make cleaning as easy as possible.
On top of the range, the Star Burners are designed as raised pedestals, so a hand and sponge fit easily under each burner to wipe the surface clean, and a teardrop emboss reduces food buildup near the base. The maintop under the burners is also a very easy-to-clean porcelain. Any spills will wipe up easily!
Outdoor grills are notoriously hard to clean, but the fabulous indoor grill that Thermador designed for its ranges and rangetops can be spic-and-span in no time! The entire grill can be disassembled for easy cleaning, with grill grates that are easy to remove and can even be placed in the dishwasher for cleaning!
The hinged elements under the grill can fold up to allow easy access to the ceramic briquette basket for easy cleaning, and underneath the basket is a grease tray to collect any grease that can pass through the briquettes. Those briquettes can also easily be removed for cleaning. That’s a fantastic bonus!
If you prefer an induction cooktop, Thermador makes clean-up easy there, too. Spills and boil-overs don’t scorch onto the surface, and can be wiped off easily with just a damp cloth. And there are no wells are crevices that can trap crumbs and spills – the smooth surface is perfect for a no-mess cook top.
In the oven, Thermador has also thought of convenience and ease-of-use, with the fastest self-cleaning oven cycle on the market! In just two hours, which includes cleaning and cool down, the interior walls and rack supports become perfectly clean. And all Thermador double ovens also have a hidden bake element for easy cleaning.
As much as I love cooking and entertaining, I’m not always quite as enthusiastic about doing the dishes afterward – it can be such a chore. That’s why I love a great dishwasher!
The custom paneled Star-Sapphire Dishwasher from Thermador is the perfect choice for someone who entertains, because it has flexible wash cycles that can clean the finest stemware or large pots and pans, and it has fast cycles that ensure guests always have a clean utensil, plate, or wine glass. It also holds 18 wine glasses, and a Thermador exclusive Flexible Chef’s Tool Drawer!
The Star-Sapphire’s StarSpeed is the industry’s fastest full-wash hot water cycle, clocking in at just 20 minutes. StarSpeed preheats the water ahead of time, completing a load in record-setting time and making it ideal for entertaining or clean-up with multi-course menus.
With open floor concepts in most modern kitchens today, people today really want appliances that are quiet and won’t disrupt conversations with family and friends. The Star-Sapphire Dishwasher is so quiet it offers a Time Remaining PowerBeam that shines the cycle time remaining on the floor. Otherwise, you might not know it’s even on!
In some kitchens that I design, I even include two dishwashers for those homeowners who have big families or who entertain big crowds, so consider that for your functional kitchen. Imagine running two dishwashers with hardly any noise!
So as you’re designing your dream kitchen, remember to choose appliances that work for you, helping to keep your kitchen as clean as possible!
