Thermador is back from an exciting weekend at the 2015 BB&T Charleston Wine + Food Festival. For the last eight years, Thermador has been a proud sponsor of the event and this year was no different with Thermador as the shining star in the Hands-On Kitchen! Thermador provided innovative and powerful appliances for the venue, enabling celebrated chefs to produce divine culinary creations.

Thermador appliances took center stage in the Hands-On Kitchen in the Culinary Village, including two 36” Professional® Series Rangetops, one 30” Freedom® Collection Fresh Food Column and two Masterpiece® Series Steam and Convection Ovens. Numerous prominent chefs and culinary enthusiasts took advantage of the power and performance of these appliances to create true masterpieces, including Chef Anthony Lamas, Chef Chris Hall, and Chef Matt McCallister. In between the interactive cooking sessions in the Hands-On Kitchen, a member of the Thermador Culinary Team offered “Cooking with Steam” demonstrations using Thermador Steam and Convection ovens.

The most popular event of the festival, which took place within the Hands-On Kitchen, was the Waffle House Smackdown. This year’s staging of the cooking competition featured Thermador appliances as the supporting cast for three chefs battling for a chance to compete against the reigning champion. Bon Appétit Restaurant Editor Andrew Knowlton hosted the event and also served as referee.

It was a magnificent weekend of divine cuisine, and we were thrilled to be among those paying homage to the prominent food culture of Charleston, SC, with top chefs, winemakers, authors and culinary enthusiasts.
