In 1979, at the age of 25, chef Michael McCarty founded MICHAEL'S in Santa Monica, California. In 1984, he was named to Cook's Magazine's Top 50 "Who's Who of Cooking in America". With chef/partner Jimmy Schmidt, McCarty opened The Rattlesnake Club in Denver and Detroit and in 1989 opened Adirondacks in Washington D.C. McCarty currently operates MICHAEL'S in New York City and Santa Monica.
When Michael redesigned his Malibu home, he wanted an open space for both entertaining and family meals, and he insisted on the clean design and functionality of Thermador products. He liked them so much, he had an entire Thermador kitchen installed in his New York City apartment as well. Michael cooks his award-winning cuisine in his Malibu Thermador kitchen featuring a Pro Series 36" Cooktop.
